If you feel guilty about it, then do something. For most, why would it be a sin to be able to care for yourself? If those who can't could, wouldn't they?

Depends on how lavish. We are not responsible for all of the poor people in the world, obviously; however, some types of waste really makes me sick. For instance, I just heard that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's new baby has a $17,500 pacifier - that is disgusting. There they are, in Africa, supposedly doing things for poor people there, and their baby is sucking on a $17,500 pacifier! Unreal! I heard some corporation gave it to them as a gift but I think they should have asked the corporation to instead put the money into a cause for the poor or else even sell the pacifier to use the money for the poor. Better yet, don't even make such silly things as $17,500 pacifiers and just use that kind of money to help the poor! I hate to see the super lavishness of the lifestyles of the rich and famous and I don't see how they can live like that, knowing how poor other people are in the world - I know I could not. I can understand living quite comfortably if you can afford it, but the extremes are just disgusting.

It is a sin to know the problem and not give 1/2 of your dinner to a hungry person.

no, if it makes you feel better, donate to a charity. I hate the mentality that people who have worked hard and have wealth should share with the unwealthy. If we all share what we work hard to earn, while others are lazy then what do we work for. I may sound selfish, but there will always be inequalities in society. It is human nature.

If you give what you can and try to help people it is not sin. You are not expected to live in poverty.

I don't believe it is. You can't feed everyone that is hungry even if you are rich. You should share with others that are less fortunate than you.
