Here is the deal so far. My first doctor appt is June 12th. My husband and I are both nervous about this pregnancy because we had a very miscarriage with the first one. So we decided to see a doctor locally just to verify the pregnancy with a blood test. They said I needed to wait a few more weeks. I don't understand at all why I am having to wait. I have read all over the place online where people have already had theirs confirmed with a blood test by now. Why should I have to wait for this?? I am extra upset today because I am just getting over a stomach bug that decided to take hold of my body while I was only 4 weeks pregnant as if I didn't have enough to scare me! LOL Anyway, I am doing better from the bug now, but I am more nervous now because I am still waiting to have this pregnancy confirmed. Everything appears to be great.. no bleeding, or anything, but having miscarried before I am more nervous. What do you think I should do??? thanks.

I pray this pregnancy works for you, please try not to worry stress isn't good for you or the baby. But go to your regular family doctor and they will do it for you. I think you didn't have the stomach flu but just pregnant!!! Please if you need someone to talk to you can always contact me. I am 11 weeks right now with my second child and I would love to chat with you and help you in anyway that I can. GOOD LUCK!

There's a different way of measuring how far along you are in your pregnancy. Some doctors measure from the date of your last period, and others measure from the day of conception. Which is yours? If you're measuring from the date of conception, then you're not too terribly far along, and maybe the amount of hcg in your blood wouldn't be high enough to be detectable on a blood test? Or, it could just be that your doctor's office is booked, and can't see you until the 12th? Have you tried calling them back to get in earlier? Some doctors have a cancellation list that you can get on...if someone cancels out, they'll call the next person on the list to get them in sooner. You have only 5 days left (four, if you don't count the day of your appointment!). I know it's easier said than done, but it's really not THAT long to wait. I'm sure it seems like eons to you though.

At any rate, good luck to you (and your baby!) I'm sure everything is fine.

You should go to another doctor. Be persistant, I had a bad feeling with my very first pregnancy and at 6 weeks I demanded an ultrasound, I told them I felt like something wasn't right, they tried to brush me off because It was my first pregnancy, turns out I had a miscarriage. I totally understand you being nervous, because when I got pregnant with my son I was CONSTANTLY freaking out, I bought a bebe sounds monitor because if he didn't move for a while I thought for sure he was gone. ANYHOW, my point is that if you are persistant and don't take no for an answer they will do it. You might have to be somewhat "b!tchy" ha ha, but oh well if it is for your sanity right?? Good Luck and I am sure everything is fine!

Oh yeah and you can definately tell at 4 weeks from a blood test. They probably just think you are over worrying but forget them and get it done somewhere else to put your mind at ease!

I do not understand why the doctor will not take your blood work as I am as of today 4 weeks and 7 days pregnant and my doctor did my blood work on May 31st and it came out positive, therefore, it seems to be that this doctor is not such a great one and maybe you should consider getting another. Also, do not be nervous, be happy and excited., because then your pregnancy will be miserable as you will only have worries and not happiness. Your baby needs to feel secure and feel happiness from you and his/her daddy... So be positive and everything will be OK...

please, please, please.....relax.

your appointment is next week. just stay relaxed and enjoy the wait with your husband. you should be able to tell by now with a blood test. perhaps your dr's office is being cautious of a false result??? did you ask them why you had to wait???
maybe this is the soonest they could fit you???
there are all kinds of questions and reasons out there i'm sure, but keep in mind that you are only 4 days away from finding out!
that's not that long...so hang in there and you'll know soon.

also, PLEASE don't stress about things like stomach bugs etc. when you're pregnant. stress of any kind is not good. just relax and enjoy yourself and enjoy this time. you will get sick when you're pregnant, you will have things happen that make you nervous and you will have TONS of questions for your doctor...it's o.k.!!!! just don't get bogged down by worry, b/c that does no one any good!!
i had a terrible cold a few weeks ago (26 wks preggers) and i was worried about taking meds that were even dr approved. i kept asking the nurse..."are you sure this won't hurt the baby??"
she said "the baby will be fine and you will feel better, so do yourself a favor and take the cold med."
i took it and i felt better and my baby is still bouncing around like crazy!

so, please relax and just take things as they come. you have 9 months ahead of you, please don't spend it stressed.

take care.

Don't stress over it, Doctors make you wait to make sure your body reacts correctly to the pregnancy. Worrying is something you are going to do no matter what but my suggestion would be to relax and don't get so worked up, stress can be detected in the womb and your baby is who you need to be concerned with. I am sure everything will be fine, if your body rejects it you need to look on the other side, that it happened for a reason, and you want to make sure that baby is healthy. I wish you the best children are absolutely amazing and add so much to ones life.

You should not have to wait to take a blood pregnancy test. That is the most accurate for early detection.
The doctor was able to tell my I was pregnant by a blood test when the pee test came out indecisive.

Go to another doctor or Planned Parenthood.

I will pray that you and baby are fine, if that is the case. I can't imagine waiting...that doesn't make sense! Try another local dr or get a home pregnancy test to ease you over till he decides it's time for you to come in.

God Bless and Take Care

You should go ahead and go to a local clinic and have the pregnancy confirmed. That will probably make you feel better. Your doctor is probably trying to wait and see if you miscarry before he does all of the tests and confirms the pregnancy. He probably feels that will make it easier on you if you do miscarry. Everything will probably be fine. But, to make yourself feel better, you should probably go ahead and go to a clinic and get the pregnancy confirmed.

the doctor is making you wait because you are getting over the illness. he doesn't want any residual medications interfering with the test results. if you are really concerned about the pregnancy, id suggest going to a local clinic, yet if you would value your own doctor's opinions, the best course of action is to wait
