No. Window AC units must be set up on the bottom part of the unit, with the back end titled at a fixed angle to allow condensation to runoff to condensing tubes and fall onto the ground outside. Installing the AC unit on it's side can cause condensation to run back into the unit, and - while these things are generally okay to get wet - you have a potential electroshock hazard or at best, a shorted out air conditioning unit. Best case scenario, you'll have condensation running out on the interior of the building. My recommendation: Don't.

You have to be careful as most windows are not designed to be run on their sides and the glass could fall out. To be on the safe side, replace all glass with shatterproof perspex.

having it on its side is horrible for it, what your doing is allowing the oil in the compressor into the rest of the unit and high numbers of non-condensibles in the system will gunk up the filter drier, and cause your machine to malfunction

ive seen it done, but i dont think its safe. the unit expels condensation away from itself and the electrified parts by design, and that design was horizontal not vertical.

Check with your manufacturer.
