The search for happiness.....
Does she like me? I don't have enough money. I'm sad, or depressed, or lonely, or any of a thousand other trips we can put down on ourselves.
It's wasted effort and time. Do something to make yourself a bit better. Read a good book. Spend some time with small children, or with older people who would love to see you. Go for a long walk. Exercise. Write, even if it's just for your eyes only. Call someone you've not talked with in a long time. Volunteer to help others. Go outside and admire the day. There are far more positive things to do than negative ones.
I keep the following quotes on my computer to remind myself that:
"Life is what happens to us while our attention is elsewhere."
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee! I wish I had spent more time at the office!'"

Jesus is the main source of happiness. when Adam and Eve sinned; we all human are supposed to be go hell, but through grace of god , Jesus died for our sins. Therefore everyone who accept Jesus as a savior and lord get everlasting life and happiness as in John 3:16 in bible verses says For God so loved the world, that he his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life and also in Isaiah 26:3-4 says You keep him in the perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trusts in the lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock .

Personally, I agree with your statement. I think the biggest source for society as a whole is instant gratification. I know that sounds simplistic, but how many people do whatever they want, simply because they *think* it will make them happy?
