Well, I know lots of answers have said don't be ashamed of being fat, but you are, and thats important! I was really self conscious about my weight as I put on lots of pounds at university. Too much excess!!!!! So I was unhappy about me, I didn't care how many people told me 'its what on the inside that counts' - I felt crap inside because I was fat on the outside! Its all about how you feel about yourself and you will only ever successfully lose weight if you're doing it just for yourself and no-one else! So my advice is go to a slimming world class, thats what I did, the eating is great you never feel hungry and you can still have treats everyday. Its called food optimising, check it out on their website or buy their magazine. Once you've got the hang of the diet you can stop going to the classes, and put the money you were paying for the classes, into a savings pot- keep dieting and when you reach any targets you set yourself, go and buy new smaller clothes with your savings! You'll feel great!
Also exercising really helped me, I hated exercising and hated team sports and people watching me exercise. So I got 2 exercise DVDs and would do them every week night after work. I now have bought more DVDs and have a different one for every night of the week. I love doing them and them make me feel energised and happy.
So I'm still not stick thin, a UK size 12, but I'm happy with my body now, and I'm healthier because of all the fruit and veg I eat and the exerise I do. I really hope this advice had helped, as I know how you feel and I know how great you can feel. It took me about a year to lose the weight, so don't look for quick fixes. And now because I took so long losing it, if I come off my diet for a week or so, I don't pile the weight back on. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck and happy slimming.

Best thing i can tell you is run, as a big girl myself i understand.. and running will be hard the first 2 weeks but after a mile a day u will have more energy and loose weight fast, then u will get hooked on it! Dieting isnt always great if your doing it alone because ur cutting out alot of stuff (U THINK) is fat but has alot of nutrition in and ur more then likely keeping all the bad stuf, dont eat noodles, bread or anything like that try to cut out all cheese and dairy products and put in alot of veggies, careful on the fruit cause it has a lot of stuff in it thats not actually (DIET FOODS) stay way from Banana's LOL good luck and best of wishes oh and if you want to know my weight loss it has been 42 lbs in 2 months

Don't expect to lose much weight quickly. It doesn't work like this. It goes down slowly but if you are persistant enough, it will work. And what's most important - it will remain. Just follow the advice most people here are giving you: eat small portions 5 times a day, eat healthy food (especially fruit and vegetables, not fat or sweet), drink about 3 litres of pure water (not sweet drinks) or herbal or fruit sugarfree teas daily, and do some exercise daily (at least fast walk for long distances).
My son did so when he was 20 and during about 5 months he lost 25 kilos (from 99 to 74). He's 186 cm tall and now he's a handsome young man. I'm proud of him and admire his strong will and persistance.
Good luck to you. I keep my fingers crossed for you. Just hold on.

Hi Thu... Don't be ashamed of being fat, we all get overweight, it's only human and we all hate it. You must stop 'picking' and eat weetabix or porridge for breakfast, ( I really cant stand that 'Al bran' etc rubbish, I just cant swallow it!) use a smaller plate for your meals and eat slowly. Don't use a lot of salt as it not only gives you high blood pressure but it makes you retain water as well. Eat the foods you really like but cut down. Fast weight loss is no good, I've seen questions on how to lose weight in three weeks, and I think well,if you do, it wont stay off. I also think low cal banana milk is filling. Whatever you do please be happy......life's too short.

Dont worry too much about it, you are as beautiful as the next person and dear to someone out there. You should lose weight for your health and only if you want to, not for others. Eat lots of fruit and veg and drink water, 8 glasses a day. eat lean meat and fish and really enjoy your food, take gentle exercise and smile, laugh with friends, you will feel better soon I promise. Good luck

I'm afraid there's no quick solution but speaking from experience the only thing that ever worked effectively is losing carbs { have you ever heard of the atkins diet} i lost a stone in two weeks and for me thats a miracle, reduce the bread and pasta and increase the protein, you'll not feel as hungry but you'll be able to eat less, and be satisfied.

Weight watchers works best for me, I've just lost a stone in 10 weeks. If you lose weight too fast it will all go back on, with more, because your body thinks you are starving and will store fat more rapidly when you eat normally again. Best thing is to find your inner confidence. I started dieting for reaons other than happiness and confidence when I found God.

DON'T TRY LAXATIVES or slimfast trust me it tastes like crap and can do more damage then its worth
-drink plenty of water
-try to balnace your meals so you have half a plate of carbohydrate, one quarter protein and one quarter veg
-try replacing unhealthy snacks with healthier ones like instead of having crisps have some chopped up fruit/veg
-try to encorperate some exercise into your daily routine for example if there is a short journey say to work park your car further away so you walk a little of the journey
-gradually start doing some stretches or crunches every morning/night so maybe you start doing 10 situps, pushups and leg raises then the next week do 15
-try alternate forms of exercise, i love yoga and dancing

If you lose weight quickly the chances are you will put it back on even quicker.
Steady weight loss by exercising and eating healthily will do the trick and you will not regain the weight.
To eat healthily just cut out refined carbohydrates, potatos and alcohol and eat lots of green vegetables and fruits (not bananas or grapes).

Darling, do not be ashamed of who you are, ever. You have just as much worth as anyone else.
If you are looking to improve your overall health, try taking up a couple of sports/activities that you think you could enjoy... preferably something which will get you involved with other people who share that interest. You could also try taking a nutrition course in order to learn what nutrients your body needs to stay healthy.
