Meteorology is a fairly new science. The first artificial satellite dedicated to weather was launched in 1960. Our satellites and weather equipment and mapping are getting better with each year and with each satellite launched. In other words, give it time, we are still learning lots about the extremely dynamic weather!
:-D

Currently, meteorologists are wrong on their LONG-TERM forcasts about 15% of the time.

It depends on how far out the forecast is but if it is less than a 3 day forecast we are usually pretty close we might be a degree off or so but we can determine of what it is going to be like. People only notice when we are wrong but don't realize that everyday they watch the weather and plan their days around it and we give them a good idea of what is going to happen.

Give us a break! It's not an exact science. Considering what we have to work with, meterologists do a great job.
People seem to focus on the times meteorologists have it wrong compared to the many times they have it right.

Only when the weather is nice or really bad... they can't predict weather in between. It's not an exact science and they can't accuratley tell you how likely it will rain or precipitate. They try, but we all know they are not good. They are only right on bright sunnny days and storms. lol
