I want to buy a DSLR. The Canon EOS 30D is just wonderful, but I've been using Pentaxes for years and have lots of Pentax-compatible lenses and fittings, so I guess I'll stick with Pentax. So which Pentax DSLR will bring me closest to the Canon EOS 30D kind of level (and also that of my current Pentax Z-1)? There seem to be five possibles: *ist DS, *ist DS2, *istDL, *istDL2 and the K100D. But I haven't been able to figure out what level they're on. Many thanks.

I've only just started working at a camera shop and we sell a lot of the istDL2's. If you're switching from 35mm to digital, make sure the lense are compatiable. Most lense will conver to digital with a ratio of 50... if the lense is 28-90 it becomes a 56-180. However, not all manufacturers built their cameras to accept the lenses from 35 mm onto their digitals. Try a local Wolf or Ritz camera store... they'll give you a lot of info on the cameras and advise the best route to go.

Pentax has been interior the digital camera business enterprise plenty longer than Sony or maybe with the very shown actuality that they have got not in any respect been considered "properly end" they have always had some good, decently priced fashions. They nevertheless do. Their DSLRs are an fairly good fee. Now, in case you want to pay more suitable for the Canon or Nikon call, bypass ahead, it is you money. yet enable me ask you, in the adventure that your photographic information require a Nikon or Canon, how come you won't be able to tell your self in the adventure that they are properly well worth the money? Edit= because of Veato for stating the the niceties of Pentax. I quite have cautioned the emblem to three people because of its climate sealing at a fee you gained't locate with both Canon or Pentax. I quite were a photographer for over 30 years. the first 12 as an self reliant photojournalist utilising Minolta equipment and, have self belief me, I heard fairly some jokes about my equipment. They stopped instantly at the same time as i began promoting my artwork to the jokers' guides, lol. The digital camera does no longer make the photo. The photographer does. a good photographer receives good images whatever sort he makes use of. at present, i exploit digital Hasselblads in my studio for ninety 5% of my artwork (even with the very shown actuality that I nevertheless have all of my movie Hasselblad equipment). the different 5% are shot with a Canon equipment because after I went to purchase my first DSLR I lived in a city with out photo keep to talk of, so truly they'd in straightforward words Canon and Nikon and the Canon I were given became on sale. I belong to some photo forums the position maximum contributors shoot Nikon or Canon yet ninety 9% of the images I see there ought to were shot with less extreme priced equipment. Why? because persons are into names, because the "lesser" manufacturers do not promote a lot, because the "lesser" manufacturers are not to any extent further even bought in maximum shops, and considering that persons are more suitable into the equipment than into the images. As i want to narrate, actual one of my dazzling promoting artwork print became shot with a Kodak Brownie with a scratched lens. back, the photographer makes the shot, no longer the digital camera call.
