What does the catholic church know about life. They have persecuted and killed for hundreds of years. Now they want to tell americans how to live, and who to vote for. Why is this?

All Americans have the freedom of speech, even Catholic ones.

The Catholic Church has been telling the world what it believes is right and wrong long before anyone heard of the freedom of speech.

The Catholic Church protested the blood sports in the ancient Roman Colosseum and they were stopped. I don't think the Church is going to stop now.

This has been the Catholic Church's mission since Jesus said, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:18-20)

With love in Christ.

There are over a billion Catholics in the world. I would say that their voice will be heard whether you want to hear them or not. You can thank the Catholic Church for helping the spread of Christianity too. Without the Catholic Church we'd probably all be making some sort of pilgrimage to Mecca. Would you rather have that?

The Catholic Church has always preached to its people how to live their lives, that's nothing new. Their dabbling in US politics is also something that goes way back.

I agree that they should stay out of politics, but the molesting little boys statement was a bit harsh. I have problems with the Catholic faith as well, but I know that it's not EVERY Catholic that is committing these disgusting crimes. My wife is Catholic as well as my two best friends and I know they feel the same way about that as I do. Also, it's not just the Catholic church. Other factions are doing the same political crap that they are supposed to stay out of. I think you should think about your wording the next time you post a question so as not to offend. It doesn't reflect well on your mentality either.

For the most part, they do stay out of politics. Considering how powerful it used to be, it is very much hands off anymore. And why bash just the Catholic Church? What about all the other Protestant churches that get involved and say "vote for xxxxxx".
The Catholic church has always been tellin Americans (and any of their parishoners) how to live, that's never changed. They say who they want them to vote for because the person they are promoting is of a similar stance.
Why not hate policemen, teachers and firemen? They all say, "Vote for xxxxx" because that person has said they'll throw more money their way.

you know nothing about the catholic church. for one thing when ever there was a sin like child molestation the church stood aganst it. yes there were a few acts by 2-3 men that were completly wrong. but dont hold that aganst the whole chatholic church. and when it did happen it was condemed and the people who did it were thrown out. they have not just killed for hundreds of years. you know nothing. i have found out that people in the catholic church know a lot more than we do. shut up and learn some thing.

Do you really believe all catholics molest children? Is the Catholicism the only religion that has condoned wars and killing? Don't Baptists, Atheists, Methodists, Jehovahs, Muslims Jewish, and Lutherans all try to sway policy? Couldn't you have made a point better if you didn't inspire hatred?

Can't the same be said for every other religion? Don't protestant leaders like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and (when he was alive) Martin Luther King do the same thing? Don't Rabbis and Muslim Mullahs do the same?

Wasn't Moses more a political leader than a religious leader?

Don't the Kings and Queens of England use "Defender of the Faith" as one of their titles? Didn't the King of France use "Dieu est mon droit" (God is my right) as his motto.

Is there a difference between religion and politics? I think not.

God's Law transcends earthly law. And since governments love to make moral wrongs into civil rights, it is the responsibility of the Catholic Church, and parishioners like me, to do everything we can to insure the passage of morally proper laws - whether you secular humanists like it or not!

Hey, you have the right to vote whichever way you want, why you want - but so do I. If I want to base my vote upon what my religion's moral philosophy, I CAN and DO.

Are we talking about the US govt here?? Cause the catholic church has nothing to do w/ it. It's the Baptists you should be worried about and whatever religion Bush is... apparently god talk to the man.

All churches do the same thing, When will people of all religions and non religions learn to vote from their own beliefs and not from those in the news or entertainment industry? I was raised to make my own choices not what someone dictates to me.
