Well that's no good... if you wear a dress he will probably take you rock climbing. If you wear jeans then it will probably be ballroom dancing. Maybe you better pack an overnight bag to be prepared for any eventuality.

Depends on your age range 20-30 casual but sharp designer jeans and a nice top accessorize. 30-40 He has to step his game up a little so you should too. Go dressy, but not black tie event. You want to be comfortable in both cases and don't go outside of whats you. Commenting as a guy I would rather see you how I would see you on a regular basis. I mean if you don't usually were a lot of make up don't cake it on for the date. Finally have fun be yourself and hopefully everything works out good luck.

I don't think you can go can go wrong with smart dark jeans and a pretty top. If the surprise does mean that you've dressed inappropriately just laugh!
