Why is it when an adult is missing the police don't show a big concern as they do for children?

I think a search system should be put into affect for all missing persons rather a child or an adult...my brother has been missing since 11/2/05 and I have his missing profile on my 360 page for all to view. I feel the detectives have lost all interest in helping find out what happend to my brother and they seem to just not care , yet his case is still open but they say we don't have anymore new leads to go off of to be able to do more investigating...well they failed by not checking with local pubs ,bars in that area to find out if he had been in there any time during that first 24hours he came up missing...I wish there was more I could do to light a match under the detectives butt that is assigned to my brothers case...

Ok sorry, my brother is 42yrs old , he is listed as an endangered missing adult with the National Center For Missing Adults and yes foul play is most likely the cause of his disappearance, he was staying at a motel and was last seen walking to go get a bite to eat and never seen again, all belongings left in motel..he was not driving...his full missing profile is on my 360 page for all to view...

and may I add , he is a father of 2 sons , he never missed the holidays, birthdays ..ect..my nephews birthdays both came and went as well as holidays with no word from there dad...

I watched an episode od the TV show Missing, that took on a similar issue. A young pretty white girl and a young black boy went missing at the same time. Media jumped all over one story...do you want to guess which one?

Most of the cops I've worked with are terribly overworked and have a huge case load.

I'm really sorry about your brother. I can definitely understand your frustration with the police then. The only thing I can tell you is that in the case of an adult they have the right to come and go as they please. They have the right to move to where ever they want without telling anyone if they choose. That is what makes them an adult. Still, if someone is missing for that long I definitely think they should put in a lot more effort than that. Did he leave a house behind with all his clothing and belongings? That right there should be enough for any police officer to know that the person most likely did not just decide to move to another city...If you really feel that the police in your area are not doing enough then I would suggest writing to your congressman explaining the situation. I hope something gets done and I hope you find your brother!!!

you don't say how old your brother is ??? if a child is missing they have normally run away and the parents know where they are or who they hang out with and it's much easier. with adult it's much harder to know all of their friends etc. and depending upon your brother's medical or mental condition if he had some issues that would help to classify him as an endangered missing person not just missing.

I do know that in the good ol' USA they don't look for missing adults until 30 days after reproted missing, because American citizens have the right to dissapear if they want to. As far as your lazy detective maybe you should hire a pirivate investigator bcause you're paying him he might he more motivated.

Probably because they assume the adult went "missing" on their own. Look at all the fuss that "runaway bride" caused, and she was just a flake.

I AGREE, MY 27 YEAR OLD BROTHER WENT MISSING ABOUT A YEAR AGO, HE IS DIABETIC, AND NEEDS MEDICATION. WHEN WE REPORTED HIM MISSING, THEY DID NOT EVEN BROADCAST IT TO OTHER AGENCIES FOR 3 DAYS, I KNOW THIS BECAUSE MY HUSBAND IS A COP IN A NEIGHBORING COUNTY. WELL, 3 WEEKS PASSED, AND I GOT A CALL FROM MY MISSING BROTHER, HE WAS IN FRESNO. SOME GUYS TOOK HIM AGAINST HIS WILL AND TOOK HIS CAR AND MONEY, AND LEFT HIM TIED UP IN A BARN. HE WAS TENDED TO BY ONE OF THE GUYS WIFE, BUT THEY JUST KEPT DEPLETING HIS ACCOUNT, TAKING THE MAX OUT EVERY DAY, STEELING A TOTAL OF $22,000 FROM HIM. THE WIFE LET HIM GO, SHE DROVE HIM TO A BUSS STOP AND GAVE HIM ENOUGH TO GET FAR AWAY FROM THERE. I CALLED THE POLICE, AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, BUT HE WAS NOT EVEN ON THE MISSING PERSONS DATABASE. IT SERIOUSLY NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS.
