ALL the above answers are wrong..having lived in Australia for ten years...this is what you need....Cairns, hot all year round.....Sydney, warm in day, sweatshirt at night...will need non-sealed wetsuit if swimming.....goldcoast, pretty much same as syndey....new zealand is cooler...just bring sweatshirt..no need for jacket!

well the gold coast is usually quite warm about 25 degrees celsius in august september so light clothes would be best, cairns is hot and muggy all year round so even lighter clothes. Sydney at that time would be averaging around 15-20 degrees so not to cold, i would take trackie pants and a jumper to sydney. i am sorry i don't know about wellington

Unfortunately you will be packing for three seasons. August is winter, so in Sydney and Wellington you can expect maximum temperatures to be around 20 centigrade or colder.
Cairns is tropical, so will be around the high 20s.

All I have to say is when you think you have packed what you want go through it and take some out. In my experience i didn't wear half the clothes i brought along and dame do they get heavy after a few months. Best wishes and enjoy.

First, not knowing where ur from or what u know, August is part of winter in A/NZ. The weather channel has the ability to help you find temp averages for those cities. Also search for the travel/tourism offices for those cities.

Remember, it's going to be winter there in August. I would pack things like a light jacket, a heavy one, medium and warm shirts and pants. Take an umbrella too...

Spring clothing; it'll be equivalent to February in the northern hemisphere.
Research at Bureau of Meteorology if you wish.
