I'm a freshly graduating College with a Communications degree. I have browsed through the databases of various job-searching websites, and have browsed throuth a couple of newspaper advertisements as well. What other methods are also efficient? Going out to companies directly, and asking them if they have any current job openings available? Or asking for people, friends, family members for help? This I have already done as well. What other strategies can you suggest me?

start knocking on doors......

and be prepared to go to work, dress nice, be on your best behavior, and smile........

and most important, don;t stop until you get one...could take a couple days but you'll get one.............good luck

The oldfashioned method of going out and talking to companies is still good and quite effective. It also has the benefit of having an "interview" face to face before the official interview. You can see the place and conditions there, and the employer can see you as you are in real life (and not propped up for an interview). There are also many employers who like people who show some personal initiative.

Well, if you have a good resume, which I don't, fax it to a company in your field of interest, and give them a call back in a couple of days. There are always job fairs, and websites that promote job searches.

Oh who am I kidding, my wrist hurts from filling out so many dam* fast food applications. Maybe I shouldn't be answering this.

Talk to your college and see if they have any career fairs. While in college did you do any internships? Is it possible to get a job where you interned?

If not is it possible to do an internship and live with the parents for a short while. Eventually the place where you intern will most likely hire you. From my experience...

Pick places where you think you might like to work. Walk in, introduce yourself, ask to speak to a hiring manager about any possible open positions. If you can't speak to anyone ask if you could at least leave a resume for them to pass on.

You need to contact agencies which specialises in your field of employment. Then I would pay to get a really good C.V./Resume done so you can impress them. Most large blue chip companies head hunt through agencies anyway......

Ask friends and family. Doesn't work go to Craigslist.org in your city and they have a job posting site there. Thats how I found my job. Also go to the website for your city. They usually have a job section - granted it's all city jobs.

Put a resume on-line,if anyone is interested they will call you.In the mean time go to places you would like to work and fill out apps.

Try putting your resume on monster.com or yahoo hot jobs. Good luck in your search.

2) Prominent job web-sites like monster, dice, etc
3) Post CV on individual company web-sites like pge.com, intel.com, ibm.com

Most imp --- revamp your CV professionally, if you're getting a bunch of rejections.
