I had a kidney/pancreas transplant last year and our family and friends all pitched in to give us - me, my husband, two children (5 and 10) - a two-week vacation anywhere in the continental U.S. Because of my medicatons, I can't be out in the sun for extended periods of time and hot, humid weather makes me very ill. Where can we go as a family that the kids will enjoy, but I will be able to participate in the fun as well?? Time of year doesn't matter but I don't want to spend a fortune.

Go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and stay at one of the beachfront resorts. They're affordable, have the accommodations of home, and will allow you to rest in the patio shade while the kids enjoy the beach!!! You can also escape to the pavilion area to enjoy water rides, car races, entertainment, etc. There's great golfing on-site at most resorts!!!!

Go somewhere in the fall when the weather cools down. Chicago is a fun city and has alot of things to do. Same with New York. Both have the musical "Wicked" right now, thats fun and appropriate for little kids, but also has some stuff for grownups. It's playing in Chicago until at least November, and longer in New York.

Well, it's summer time, so pretty much anywhere you go it's bound to have hot and humid weather. How about camping in Yellowstone? You could rent a really nice RV and go camping.

Go to Yellowstone National Park, but not in the Summer. Go in the Fall when it is less crowded and cooler. Also it may be cold at night.
