The Lesser Florican is an endangered species of bird found in India, Nepal and Pakistan. Its scientific name is "Sypheotides indica" and is numbered less than 2,500 in the wild. Its habitat is lowland dry grasslands, and the population is dwindling primarily due to loss and degradation of its habitat.

It is 46-51 cm in length - a small, slender bustard with longish bill and legs. The male has spatulate-tipped head plumes, black head, neck and underparts and a white collar across upper mantle, white wing-coverts. The female and immature are sandy or cinamon-buff.
