Have a large number of "circle flies" near the front door. How do you get rid of them, are there certain plant

My parents swear by this and they live at a lake. Kinda tacky but works! Hang a plastic zip lock baggy with a ball of foil in in. Put a little bit of water in it. The reflection of the water and foil will magnatize in the flies millions of little eyes and blind them. They will leave the area.
