I don't think you should wear nail polish. It is a mere chemical which adversely affects your nails.
Yellowing of nails can be caused by various chemicals and also by the nicotine from cigarettes. Gloves should be worn when working with chemicals, and always use a base coat before applying nail polish. Some yellow staining can be removed from your nails by soaking them for a few minutes in lemon juice

The longer you wear a dark polish on your toenails, the more risk you have to exposing yourself to a fungus. Is your toenail thicker than it used to be? Are you able to pry up layers of the nail itself? Yes?, then you have a nail fungus. Go to your doc and get a prescription for the fungus and remember to change your nail polish more often in the future.

This has hap pend to me too. I used peroxide/bleach. I just soaked my feet in a bowl for 20 minutes and it was gone. Using a better brand of polish will help this from happening again. Also you can try mouth wash with a whitening agent in it too, I heard that works as well. Hope I could help.

Simple........

Just soak your feet in a warm spa then soak your toes in Lemon Juice the staining will go. It is a cheap and cheerful way to keep both toes and fingernails stain free. My customers use this in between manicures and it is good for smokers too.

Whiteners for this purpose are sold at better drug stores. Have you tried buffing the nail? If you get one of those buffers (some are rectangular and look like blocks, another kind looks like a four-sided nail file), that should do the trick.

You could try soaking your feet in citric acid and warm water. If you can't get hold of any of that, try rubbing them with lemon juice instead
