There are so many things the G.O.P. have done to screw up this country since 2,000 it's incredible! It's like the 8 trillion dollar debt they've racked up a war created on false pretense and lies.Invasion of privacy of u.s. citizens. The gas prices that have gone up from a 1.40 cents a gal. avg. when bush took office to the still around 3.00 avg. They do their little investigations, blame something, lower it a little then raise it double the decrease!Global warming that they tried to hide, is so real. The secracy of this admin. is unethical,to say the least. So what do you think of their latest cover up of problems by bringing up an amendment on gay marriage?

It's yet another weak attempt to deflect the spotlight off Bush's low approval rating, the lack of support for his various wars, high gas prices, global warming, the massive budget deficit, the skyrocketing national debt, etc.

I doubt if homosexuals pose a danger to marriage. I'm married and I don't feel threatened. Even the whole thing about illegal immigration is a sham. Very few Americans had an opinion on that until the media gave them one. I feel sad because of the gullibility Americans exhibit.

Its pretty sad. Every election they promise they will do something about gay marriage or abortion to get their base riled up, then they dont actually do anything. Its like people just forget what they were promised by these guys 2 years ago.
Didnt they promise to outlaw gay marriage and abortion in 2000 and 2004? They've controlled Congress, the White House, and the courts since then and havent done anything about them! Its all just a ploy for votes, they really dont care about adressing these 'problems'.

I'm so glad another intelligent party said it. I agree wholeheartedly.

Instead of facing real problems (the war, the defecit!), they bring up issues to ignite the nation, like gay marriage and immigration.

Bush needs to buy a clue and work on fixing things before making a bigger mess than he's already made!

What you meant to say that there is a direction that Bush has intentionally taking to take America's mind off of the war, when some of these issues have been around much longer than we have!

Agreed. It is a ploy, one that has been thought out and implemented. That's why they say that "Bush is turning towards domestic issues!"

Damn right he is because his foreign issues suck. But then so does his domestic ones.

Anything in an election year!

Well it's all they have left. And sad to say it works. People are so bigoted they will vote in a pres that only takes advantage of the poor and middle class, because he's anti-gay just like them. It doesn't matter that we have to work harder and pay more taxes -don't let the Gays marry - gays marrying doesn't effect my bottom line.
