i have a 2000 sf home, split system. with avg insulation and dual pane windows.... i would prefer an energy efficient model (90 afue, 16 & above seer...) i understand that their are many models and brand..... however i want to invest in the best ... does consumer reports offer their suggestions this year ?

what about air purification systems? i have terrible allergies.

i would suggest a "trane" ( spelling?) great units. 16 seer is very high seer, will need to live in that house at least 5 yrs to make it pay off. 13 is the min in my state, nc. u can install a purification system with them too.

I would buy a Rheem. Excellent quality and cheaper than the Trane.

Here's something that most people don't know about AC units. Most all units use a Copeland brand compressor. So no matter whether you buy a Trane or a Rheem. They both will have a the same manufacturer make their compressors.
