What is the proper procedure of planting grass from start to growing?

After purchasing a quality grass seed mix containing grass that grows naturally in your area you'll want to water the ground lightly, careful not over do it causing puddling. Then preferably with a spreader, spread the seeds across the dampened ground. then cover with a layer of straw, not to thick but not to thin. Within a week or two the grass will start popping up from the straw. Allow the new grass about an extra week after you see it over through the straw then rake the straw away.
