I'm young right now and I want to grow-up and get a Ph.D. I also want to pursue the careers of book writing, teaching, paranormal investigations and readings, or history of the Ancient Celts. What job should I choose so that I can make at least $350,000?

You want to make $350,000 a year? Get a law degree then get elected to Congress.

After you get your BA degree (4-5 years or so), you will need an MA (2 years) and then the Ph.D. That usually takes 3 years of course work and another couple for your dissertation (if you are on track). So you are looking at about 12 years after high school. BTW, unless you write a super successful book or something else out of the ordinary, you will never make $350,000 doing the things you want to do.

To make $350,000: CEO of a large company, doctor, your own business that is successful enough for that level of salary, be a really successful writer who sells lots of books (at the level of a Stephen King or John Irving), or inherit a lot of money.

Those careers that you have listed ..... probably not .....

How long to get a Ph.D.??? Probably 4 - 5 years of undergraduate study, a year to two years to do a masters, and as long as 5 more years to complete a Ph.D, depending on your program, dissertation requirements, etc.

Oh, by the way, unless you have a source of money to pay for the education, you also have to support yourself along the way .... which may add more years to the completion time.

Good luck with it! I am sure you can do it if you really want to. Just a bit of hard work and determination.

A PhD is a research degree. Trust me when I tell you, rarely will you find a persons in a research career make 350,000 per year. Its not uncommon to make 100,000 or even 150,000. Only was a researcher can make the type of money your talking about, is to become an entrepreneur.

The best way you can assure yourself of a high paying career based upon a chosen degree is to pursue a law career. A PhD in an engineering field paired with a law degree from a top 25 school will land you a lucrative position at a Intellectual Property/ Patent Litigation law firm. These attorneys generally start out with salaries in the range of 100,000 to 200,000 a year. And its not uncommon for a senior partner in these law firms to make about 1,000,000 per year

i need to point out that a Ph.D in law would only be useful if you plan on teaching, and even then there are very few who earn their doctorates in the law profession.
i presume you mean a JD, which is the law degree that most lawyers have. that's what you need to be successful and make the kind of money you plan on making. a Ph.D might get you a tenure-track job at a state university and $80,000 a year if you're lucky.
