I ran into the spare tire on a jeep in front of me at a stop light (oops) - my hood is slightly dented (barely noticeable) and shuts tight in the front...it just doesn't fit tight on the sides. It really isn't noticeble and I hate spend $1000 to fix it (estimated cost) - do you think it is necessary?

You should be OK. As long as the latch holds the hood down securley, it will be good to go. If it doesnt bother you to see the misalignment of the hood near the fenders, then leave it alone. Just make sure that the latch holds tight, you dont want the hood to fly open and blind you while you are driving.

Try to find a place that has a wind tunnel and test to see how much wind it takes to blow it off. Then after the test don't drive faster than it takes to blow off the hood. Or better yet, find a good body shop that doesn't over charge for the repair as this is minor and should not cost that much.

I've had this problem. My car is a 1995. My wife did this on day 3. Have been driving like that ever since. As long as the latch is good you will be ok. The only thing this will affect is resale.

I'd do it for $500. Let me know. I'm in the Atlanta area.
