Struggle against:
- people trafficking
- prostitution
- domestic violence
- unequal payments
- unequal opportunities
- absence of women from public and political sphere
- abusing women in wars
- limiting women's freedoms and rights in some less developed cultures
and many other things. 21st century is not the same in all countries and continents. In some of them women doesn't have even their right to choose...
And tin idols like models and singers have nothing to do with feminism. Their pictures (NOT THEM PERSONALLY) are just the products of men's fantasy, objects used to sell the cosmetics, cars, clothes. But this fantasy as well as the photos of those girls are not representing the real situation - real human beings and real needs.

It means moaning about nothing is good enough.
That the promised land is not as good as women were led to believe. (Which we all knew) And they’re still looking under rocks and stones and at the end of the rainbow for it, and talk as if men are hiding it from them in a cave somewhere.
Feminists are never happy, now that women are sleeping around like a man, drinking and partying like a man. They're complaining these women are letting the side down.
Feminists seemed to think men had an easy life. (Where they got that idea I don’t know) Now a lot of females have had a shock and found it not so true, what with the rise of cirrhosis of the liver, heart attacks and general stress related problems in women.
A few of my female friends (flag waving feminists in the 70’s) lost their husbands to these ’Modern women’.
And why did these ’Modern women’ take their husbands? Because they can, to show how independent they are. Survival of the fittest.
And a few of my female friends lost their jobs, due to feminists making unreasonable wage demands.
Women who championed the cause in the 1970’s are now feeling the backlash. The dream has become a nightmare for them.
Most men DON'T feel threatened by equality, it's a great thing. My girlfriend was a feminist. She earned good money. She was a good drinking partner. And we had great sex.
A warning to all your young feminists. From now on you will have to be on guard all times, because there will always be a woman ready to take your man.
If you have a wealthy partner even more so.
That’s what you wanted. And now you've got it big time. AND it will not go away.

It means sticking up for the rights we won in the past and working to make equality for everyone. Feminism is looked down upon because people think that it only applies to women but in truth feminism calls for equality between men and women. women still don't make as much money as men for the same work and schools are geared towards educating girls. How about we combat these two issues and go from there.

Being a feminist to me, means being allowed to be who i want to be. By this i mean that if i choose to be a mother and stay home with kids then that's OK, but on the other side if i choose to go out into the work force and hold a high powered job that's alright too. There should be no gender roles governing what people can and cannot do with there lives. If it were up to me then traditional gender roles would no longer exists men and women would be equals at home and in the work place.

AS in the 20th century, it means that ardent feminists continue to encourage traditionally minded woman and girls to hate men as much as they do.
They are an appalling breed that are responsible for bringing about considerable social and political damage to this country.
The sad thing is that sycophantic males have actually been helping them. Perhaps the younger ones can be excused because the education system has been indoctrinating them for years.

I think in all honesty, it means pretty much nothing anymore. Feminists and rights for females has taken quite a step backwards, with terrible role models like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson showing the young generation that the way to get ahead as a woman is to be abnormally thin, act like a stupid little airhead and be subordinate to men!
Great!

Being a feminist means alot of things to me. It means I support the fact that women should have control over their own bodies. That women should not be degraded in the media (or sell themselves out). That I will be seen as an equal contributing partner when I get married. That women should not be raped. That women should not be beaten up by their partners. That teenagers should be taught to love and respect their body instead of thinking they need to have sex, or develop eating disorders to be skinny and popular.
These things are what I work torwards every day in my job and in my personal life.

I personally think feminism has robbed women of their true place in society. Chivalry is dead. Women have to pay strangers to raise their children while they go into the workplace in order to make a living. Women are tired from trying to do it all. I haven't talked to any woman who wants to live this way.

feminism to me means the struggle to make women equal in every aspect of life. it means resisting ridiculous stereotypes and pressures upon women, trying to prevent the media from perpetrating these pernicious stereotypes which are damaging to already self conscious images, making rape a serious crime which carries a maximum sentence of more than 5 years!!! (in the uk)
(personally, i would rather be shot than raped), getting myths about rape disspelled, amongst women and men, tackling discrimination in the workplace and unequal pay, making sure women have adequate chilcare if they want to work (afterall women make up more of the worlds population than men, therefore the work industry should cater to their needs), tackling domestic violence more seriously, and making sure there is mutual respect between men and women.
to whoever said it meant making women hate men you are very ignorant of the concept of feminism. don't feel threatened just because women want equality.
