Or how about chewing coca leaves like the Andeans?

Genesis 1:29-30
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

Fundamentalist Christians say evolution, abortion, homosexualtiy, and a plethora of other things are immoral based on their fundamental reading of the Bible. Where is the fundamental reading here?

I think you made my point. People stop using the Bible to say homosexual marriage is wrong, or that teaching evolution is immoral! BTW - I don't use mary-jane... It's illegal! LOL

What about chocolate, coffee, cigarettes, FAT? Besides...are you saying that when God said "every green plant" he really didn't mean every green palnt?

Religion and politics don't mix. One is "man's" law, and the other is man's interrpretation of God's (or whomever's) law.

Plants produce fruits grains and vegetables. Pot is a weed, like rag weed, dandelion and many others. Some plants produce poisonous toxins as a defense against insects. Tea leaves are also among the toxins plants however it's toxicity is extremely low. Yet, too much can kill.

Pot is for the empty headed people. Yes, I've tried it, but I have also grown up a long time ago. For you, pot should become a distant memory.

As for the Bible, it clearly said the plants bearing fruit and seed, not the plants themselves. Since the bible is such a big book (or collections of smaller books) I'd suggest reading it through entirely, then read it again 3 more times entirely. You will begin to see the connections, and won't need to ask stupid questions any more.

I've read the bible entirely over the last 30 years about (estimating) 8 or 9 times. There are still many things to be learned.

Since you are so smart then why don't you go gnaw on a rose bush?

Because there is a HUGE difference between using something as food or for medicine than using it for getting HIGH. He scripture also tells us to be sober and vigilant. There is nothing in scripture that says it's wrong to drink but Plenty that speak against getting drunk. If you are using it for food, to make things you need (hemp products), or for medicine like say cateracts (pardon my spelling) then you haven't a problem. BUT if you are using it to get High then there is a problem. I'd tell you the same thing about say morphine If you're using it because you had surgery to kill your pain then fine... but if you're using it ONLY to get high because your a addicted then you have a problem.

Are you putting marijuana in the brownies for the neutrition? Or because you'll get high? The purpose of food is to give you body fuel so it can function, it has nothing to do with gettin high and getting the munchies.

There is another thing to consider ... In Romans Paul tells us to honor the laws of the land unless those laws contradict God's commandments. We are to be righteous before all. And the only way we are allowed to break the law of the land is if it is asking you to go against God. For example, If you were a jew and you lived somewhere that forbade Jews to go to temple... You would have the right, according to God, to go against that law. But if say the law said that you cannot make noise in the streets after a certian time of night then the Jews walking to temple on friday night would just have to just go quietly but could still go to temple for sabbath. My point is... If you can still do what God commanded with out breaking the law of the land then do that unless you have no other choice. When it comes to this command, there are plenty of other things we can uses for food or to make products we don't need to use marijuana and we don't need to break the law.
I hope this makes sense to you. God bless!

Yeah, right, use The Bible for your convenience and interpret it as you want... well, there are also poison plants, Would you make brownies out of them? God also gave us reason, logic and intelligence and free will, if you want to have marijuana brownies there's nothing we can do but don't come and say "The Bible says this or that" because you want to justify the illegal use of drugs.

I honestly believe that God did provide everything in the way of food and medicine for man to enjoy however, because of the fall, we do not look upon many things that He gave as "good'. I believe that the marijuana plant was probably used for medicinal purposes; research Native Americans and others who used plants for healing, etc.however, man's greed has changed the way we see the good that God provided. Our misuse of his gifts and the combination of products have hurt many people.

Marijuana and its consumption is misuse of Gn.1:29-30 and not following it. Why do you not chew upon poison ivy? because it harms you and so does marijuana and other mentioned plants. So, God created plants that both benefit and harm humans. It is upto us humans to use our discretion to select rights and wrongs. The 'wrongs' today are termed today as illegal. Its illegal to harm someone, and also buying or selling things that harm someone, marijuana is one of them.

these things are illegal because we don't live in a religious theocracy but in a Republic so the laws are set by the people's elected leaders not by the bible.
