well, you are the only person living with you........it's okay to talk to yourself, as long as you DON'T START ANSWERING YOURSELF BACK!!!

Your question runs in circles. Talking to yourself is just listening to your own conscious thoughts. These thoughts are a product of your mind. So what you describe is nothing more than an awareness of you changing your mind.
Yet your conscious mind is strongly influenced by your unconscious self. This is the part of you that you hide from others by hiding from yourself. It also seems to contain you personal "knee jerk" reactions to situations in your environment.
When your unconscious mind influences your conscious mind it can often be presented as a mental-emotional dialog. There is another method of dealing with conflict. Turn off your mind using discipline and then observe what you do.

i actually have been doing that for a long time, i mean when i am alone, (i never want people to think im some crazy chick talking to herself). but i do it, and i have gotten to notice that whenever i do it, i seem to clear out my mind more than i would not have if i had just kept in my mind and thought of it. for example, if i had to decide on completing some project i was confused on how to do it and had one plan in mind, if i talked it out to myself outloud i would find out the perfect way to do it without making a dumb mistake. i mean if i had not talked it outloud to myself i would have done a lousy job thinking, 'damn, i could have done it the other way!'.
then again i also use it when i have to make like a personal decision on whether it was my fault in a fight between my bf and i or was it his fault that he acted the way. i mean when i talk it out loud, its like someone else is talking to me and i listen to my own voice and things make more sense and i end up with a clear, fair decision.

Yes, it's called thinking about a situation. But I don't talk out loud, only in my head.

more than once.....i actually think to myself i will never do that (like call someone i am fighting with), but then i say what if i did and before i know it, i am doing what i said i wouldn't. it happens all the time with me and i am usually happy that i talked myself into whatever it was.

Yes I have. It is possible and very practical. If some one is really interested, please go through the book "the monk who sold his ferrari". A truly inspiring book.
