i watched some program about some guy wanting to tax obeese people with a BMI of above 30 which is clinically obeese. (this is in britain btw) i think this is a brilliant idea since fat related illnesses are causing the tax payer over £2bn a year for hospital treatment/operations and such. what do you think should happen?

We tax those that smoke, we tax those that drink booze both are addictions both cost billions in heathcare. So why not a fat tax? In following the logic that the US government sued tobacco companies for payback of healthcare costs.
I would find it hypocritical for some who support a smoking ban and taxes and NOT support a fat tax.

I support neither as the tax raised would just be misused by our politicians.

No, there should not be a FAT TAX... but EDUCATION should be prevalent..... really prevalent... to get people to understand the problems associated with being overweight.. heart problems, bone problems, and a host of other problems. I also do not think it is the fault of Wendy's or any restaurant. It is the people themselves who are incapable, too stupid, to know what is happening.

Ah, socialized medicine and the advent of socialist legislated morality.

Perhaps if everybody was responsible for their own health care costs, this wouldn't be an issue. But all that personal responsibility and freedom is too scary, eh?

Absolutely! I'm tired of paying for these fatsos. The same way we pay for smokers! There should be a 20% tax on all fast food and potato chips.

LMAO. Maybe income tax should be calculated by the pound (or stone, in Britain).

no because a lot of businesses are now not hiring obese and smokers because of the health probs they incur which affect the job.
