Depends on what you mean by unpredictable. If the formula includes unprotected sex and alcohol or drugs, I'd say go with "mundane and stable". You might find out its more exciting than you ever thought possible.

Mundane but stable.
I've had both and the mundane but stable ones last and grow into love. I have been with the mundane but stable relationship for the last 10 years now and I love him more everyday.

There are 4 basic "Types" of relationships
1. Unhappy/abusive,,, Unstable
2. Unhappy but stable on some levels,,,IE: income security
3. Happy but unstable,,,IE: Happiness or stability can be sporadic
4. Happy and stable,,,IE: The ideal.
It is less about the TYPES than about acceptance, tolerance, and the choice to effect change in ourselves.
We should always strive for perfection. It isn't a sin or against any laws. We also may define perfection in various ways.
