Actually all you quick to judge folks, it's not really that simple if you consider the fact that hard drive space will be allocated by blocks and that can vary depending on your settings and such. Plus, not all of the space on a 30 GB drive is actually user writable. Typically some of the hard drive space will be used by the hard drive itself so your usable space will be less.

I would bet that you wouldn't get 7. Probably 6 by the time everything is said and done. By the way, most DVD's contain more than 4GB worth of data once it's extracted and uncompressed, so if that's what you're after you might want to figure out something else.

Is it your primary drive or is it an external Hard Drive. If it is external then proably just take 30 by 4 and you would get 7 with the 2 gb left. If it is an primary then you have to allot room for windows and I would say 5 or 6. Also depends which version of windows you are using but I think you could squeeze the 6th in.

Naturaly 7 is the answer. It's better to burn your 4 gig movies on a dvd than load up your hard drive. Or buy a secondary 100 gig hard drive. As movies take up space they will use most of your virtual memory and your computer will run poorly.

The straight math would suggest you'd be able to put 7.5 movies onto the drive, but there are other things that take up some of that space. Even if you were able to devote the entire drive to video files, it's not wise to fill it beyond about 85-90% of the total.

6 or 7, depending on the operating system you use. 7 maynot be possible if the operating system you use takes more than 2 GB.
