Something tells me that Federer will find a way to get it done this year at the French, provided he gets by a potentially very difficult semifinal v. Nalbandian.
It's hard to say who has the edge. Nadal has the head-to-head advantage, and he has that awesome streak on clay, and he is the defending French Open champ. Federer is undefeated in major finals, and he will be trying to complete the "Roger Slam" - four majors in a row.
I'm hoping that Nadal will eventually pose a challenge to Federer at Wimbledon as well; he seems to already be just about there on hard courts...Let's hope for a true (and classy) rivalry for the next 5-7 years or so!

As you know by now that Nadal has beaten Federer hands down and on clay nadal will have the edge over federer but on grass it is a different ball game altogether.

Nadal is still great. However, I watched several Federer french opens games. He really played even better than before for this year. Maybe he can beat Nadal this year

Nadal clearly has the advantage. He has beaten Federer on clay more than he has lost to Federer on clay. He has also won 58 consecutive matches on clay, which is a record. Nadal beat Federer last year when it seemed no one could. Why can't he do it again? His best surface is clay. Federer is definitely a better all around player (all surfaces), but Nadal has the edge over him on clay.

Federer has been getting closer to Nadal on clay, and with the last 3 slam titles, has all the motivation to complete the set.
Federer in 5.

The edge.... well, I think Nadal has the edge on "clay court" ONLY but Federer has the edge on almost all surfaces. This time I'm quite sure that Federer will win.

I think it's 50/50 chance for either one. It may come down to a loose net cord or some lucky shot. They are so even on clay at the moment. The last time they played on clay at the Monte Carlo event Federer held several match points on Nadal and they played for over 5 hours and it went 5 sets, so anything can happen.

Nadal seems to right now. He has a 5-1 career head-to-head record against the world #1 and has won his last 57 clay court matches, and clay is Federer's least favorite surface (by far).
That said, Federer has been very good at figuring out how to beat tough opponents (Hewitt, Agassi, Nalbandian, so on), so it would not be wise to count him out. It might be tough, but if Federer is patient and cuts down on the unforced errors, he certainly has a reasonable shot.

Federer is a top player, but the kid Nadal seems to have his number on clay. I hope the Fedexpress learns from their past meetings & wins today.
