I think that gangs serve a very real purpose in the neighborhoods that they are in. Not all gang activity is bad, the comraderie, male bonding, developing toughness to live on the street are all things we crave, they are just done in a different way. It is amazing to me to see the Mafia get glorified in movies and television (Sopranos) but gangs are the ones demonized in the media. The Mafia is nothing but a gang as well.

In my neck of the woods, Bloods are moving in on Crypt territory...very scary...when gangs move in then trouble begins, shootings, theft drugs, sex crimes, you name it. There are plenty of web sites around to clue you in. Gangs by definition means trouble
The Mafia is a gang of hoodlums, and America has a fascination for gang violence, so the kool guys on Soprano don't really count..

scary as all get out! where i live we have a mexican gangs. They dont seem to bother any one unless your alone..then your one screwed enchilada
