Sorry, don't mean that to be offensive to patriotic Americans, but I'm sure I heard a rumour somewhere that he was, and was just wondering if there was any evidence that he might have had bisexual/gay tendancies?

PS Yes, I am aware he was married, before anyone says that.

Thanks!

I don't believe there is any indication that George Washington was gay or had homosexual tendancies.

The meaning of the word "gay" is jolly, happy or in good spirit. If you wonder in this regard about George Washington, the answer would be: sometimes. Washington was often very serious and known for harsh orders, but occasionally he showed also a good sense of humour and gay spirit.

Should you, however, refer to the word in its twisted and hijacked meaning - standing in for the word "homosexual" - there is no evidence or even hint of such whatsoever. It is also quite disturbing to notice that certain interested circles are trying to manipulate and alter history by spreading unsubstantiated rumours about all sort of famous people of the past. This is not only futile, but also highly dubious and unfair since the people in question are all long dead.

Well, I don't know, but nowadays, since being gay in this country is an honor, a pride and superior, I would not be surprised if somebody would say that he was. I have read that some people say that Lincoln was gay, Robin Hood too, and many other famous people as well

Let's keep in mind that many of the names in history were gay/bi whatever but we might not know it as people were not as well informed and may have thought it was a problem.

Even 50 years being gay was a stigma.

Was GW gay? Maybe...

No, there's been no rumors or legends. In fact, he was a rather rough-and-tumble warrior type before he became president. He did have at least one child (died as a young person).

i don't know if he was gay, but it seems when browsing through a lot of questions that each famous person is or was gay.
