I agree with the answer above, but not with the timing. Get a medium sized microwave-safe bowl and fill with hot water. Boil it for 5 minutes on high; let sit 5-10 minutes. The resulting steam will cause everything to loosen and you can quickly wipe it clean.

Small bowl of water, microwave on high for a minute or two and leave it for a half minute or so to work. Do it again and it should come off a lot easier. The steam that is produced is what makes it softer so next time, wipe it out when the spill or splatter is made and it will be easier too.

If the small bowl of water and steam ideas don't work, you can get fumeless Easy Off Oven Cleaner to clean your microwave. It won't hurt it and will take care of the problem so within 10 mins. or less you can wipe it all clean. Voila! Good luck!

Put a bowl of water in and put it on high for a minute. The steam created makes the food less hard and then you can scrub it off more easily. You can use household cleaners such as 409.
