American is a sense of nationalism, like many other countries who possess this sentiment and are conscious of their place within a certain borders, born natives of America learn to nurture or sometimes negate their sense of belonging to a geographical piece of land, which ultimately embodies all the history, social construct, and culture (arts, lifestyles, policies, and the like) that they identify with. Is party of their identity. Now, to answer your question, there is no homogeneous form of American nationalism, because many different backgrounds feel different and see America in an array of nuances. That is the beauty of the diversity and the myriad of different beliefs systems, that, in my opinion, makes this country so rich in its cultural values and knowledge. One can marvel at the variegated -- and sometimes idiotic -- beliefs of Americans, but to say that Americans think in a uniform way, is certainly a misconception.
