Let me clarify: I'm talking about venomous (rattle snakes) so please don't send answers like "they're our friends". I love nature, but I don't like life threatening trips to the hospital in agony!

Start a population of cats. Others will come, and snakes will flee.
EDIT: hhahahah some of these answers are "out there"....obviously written by city folk. Cats will solve your snake problem, my friend. I was reared in the country... we never had any snakes in our yard.
Now, if you don't like cats, you may exercise some of the options listed here. Bandicoot? Mongoose? wa ahahahahahahahah

Like the St. Patrick's Day Game.
"Help St. Patrick get the snakes out of Ireland!"
Find all the snakes and drag them into the sea! .
Did you know Ireland is the only country in the world WITHOUT Snakes?

Snakes eat vermin. No need to get rid of them. They serve a very useful purpose. And natural predators (Owls, etc...) will keep the snake population under control.
Man has to learn to just stay out of Mother Nature's way.

A mongose. They fight with snakes and usually win. People keep them around their house as pets in highly populated snake areas.

Ask them to leave? Why would you want to? They are your friends as they eat the mice and rats that would get into your home if they were not around, as well as bugs and other things that are in your garden. Bring them on over to my place as I would welcome them. I have had no mice or rats and very few bugs in my garden for years as I let the snakes live and thrive.

Unfortunatly, this is not possible or exceptable to the government. You probrably will have a better chance of getting rid of the ones that cross your path, there is really no reason to worry about the others. PHB
