America, being one of the youngest countries ...in comparison to European, by thousands of years, yet we have accomplished more in this short time than any other. One of the reasons is this country was established by people working together, sharing the load, sharing knowledge and eventually sharing our good fortune.
We have never questioned when help was needed "What are we going to get out of it", Americans juust jump in and help, be it friend or foe.
I don't think it's a lack of appreciation on the part of the people we help it's just that their governments ....seem to forget.
Maybe it's jealousy,,,,, no matter how much partisan bickering we go thru we alwayys puull together in the end (though lately i am starting to feel that some of our citizens don't realize how luckyy and blessed theyy are to be a part of this great nation).
A nation that gives and gives without asking for anything in return.
God Bless America

The recent disasters we have suffered have been in our own country. Still, you may be correct that it seems once folks have been serviced, they don't appear to be grateful. Let's look at it though - you are a family who has lost everything;you have no contact; no way to associate and communicate; it's all you can do to get some food and shelter for your family; you don't know where the next meal or anything is coming from. Your life has been changed. Personally, I would not hold them too accountable for saying "thanks". I believe in my heart, they are thankful. Additionally, the other countries we help - I am sure they are grateful too - we just don't hear about it. You never know what is going on behind closed doors with governments. Everything is about politics and being "politically correct". Arrangements are made, loans are given, power implemented and the palms of those who "matter" may be greased, but the commonfolk don't hear about it. You see the news media - when was the last time you heard of some "good" news? It does not sell. I don't think people look at the US as being so bad, but I do believe that there are elements in our country who may be projecting images that the American public may not fully appreciate or accept. I cannot imagine any family, any country, any person who is in need and receives some relieft is not appreciative. What we don't know is that "the real people think" because the "big boys" are always in the way.

There are 191 countries in this world. The ones that hate us are the ones we bomb on a regular basis....or countries that think that invading soverign nations isn't a good idea, specially when you forget to do things like THINK about what might go on after the invasion.
That being said, I don't think that the countries we help hate us at all. Maybe some people in those countries don't like america but hey there are people in this country that don't like them.
When a country suffers a tragedy like an earth quake or a Tsunami we help them because it's the right thing to do.

You should really get over the urban myth that America is altruistically helping the rest of the world. This is bull. In the rare cases that the American government 'gives' money to countries that have experienced a disaster, the motivation is for American capitalists to move in and steal the broken pieces. This nonsense about how kind and decent the American government is towards other 'less fortunate' people is a grotesque attempt at propaganda. When Americans give money away they usually give it to drug lords, dictators and whoever else is screwing up other countries. This way American corporations can have free reign over that country's resources and slave labor.

The media is only as liberal as the conservative corporations that own them.
Now that that's out of the way...
Because in most cases that aid comes with strings attached. Or in the case of the Tsunami in 2004, the US didn't send aid until Indonesia asked for it. The US isn't always the first nation; and most often it's not even the 10th nation to offer aid.

It is called the Liberal media. Most media is owned by Liberals, so they will only let you see what they want you to see. See?
The best way to learn about America is to see with your own eyes, listen to AM radio (talk radio), stay clear of CNN and watch FOX, which covers the truth and inform yourself by going online and looking at what is really going on like:
