If anyone has any ideas on this please let me know as I really need this laptop for my school work. The laptop has a CD drive and like I said it is in the docking bay so when I use the floppy as the start up disk to run fdisk and all it doesn't recognize the CD drive so doesn't load the drivers for it so I can run setup from the cd to put the system on it.

Sorry, but there is no easy solution to this. If your computer does not recognize the CD drive on the docking bay, then that just means the connection from your CD drive on your docking bay to your computer is not working correctly.

I would try to do a hardware add from the control panel. There is a chance that you just need to do a scan on your computer to recognize the Cd drive on the docking bay. Or you might need to go to your BIOS setup from the initial reboot screen and you might have to set it up in there. Normally you hit F2 or F8 from the reboot screen and it lets you enter your system configuration BIOS setup screen. You will need to see if you can find your Drive in there from your docking bay and you might need to set it up so that it reads from the docking bay instead of trying to locate it in your internal system.

If both methods do not work, then I would just take it to a technician and he can tell you if there is a hardware problem.
