He and his family are originally from Almora, a region in the Kumaon Hills of the Uttaranchal State. His father migrated to Ranchi ( Jharkhand) for a job and got settled there. He belongs to a very modest family, who were less than middle class family in affluance, before he joined Indian cricket.
By and large, all the people from that region (Almora), are decent and nice. They are very simple and honest.

well dhoni's father works in h.e.c. his mom is a house wife and his sister is married (elder to him) and teaches in dav shyamli (dhoni was a student of this school) . and if u want to know anything else abt him i can tell u

dhoni is frm almora in uttaranchal he shifted to ranchi in jharkand coz his father worked in HSL he played football till 1995 then he shifted to cricket
