i plan to ask my dr. about this at my visit next week, but i was just wondering about anyone else's personal experiences.
i've been getting some minor nose bleeds every once in a while and i'm not sure if it's a pregnancy thing like bleeding gums or if i'm blowing my nose too hard and just bursting a vessel....or if something may be wrong.
i will ask my dr, so don't worry....i'm just curious about other mom's experiences.
thanks!

I never had that problem, but I think it's normal.
You're right--you should check with your doctor, just to make sure!
Is it common to have nosebleeds during pregnancy?
Yes. Minor nosebleeds are common and harmless, although you may find them inconvenient and even embarrassing. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts even more pressure on those delicate veins, causing them to rupture easily. You're especially likely to have a nosebleed when you have a cold or sinus infection or when the membranes inside your nose dry out, as they do in cold weather, air conditioned rooms, airline cabins, and other dry environments.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Yes I believe it is normal. I had bloody noses with both of my pregnancies. With the most recent one, I actually had to blow my nose every morning and almost everytime there was at least a small amount of blood. Ask the doctor for sure, but I'm pretty sure I read about it in one of my pregnancy books and it said it was pretty common.

Yes I did.
It's a perfectly normal symptom. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts even more pressure on the veins, causing them to rupture easily. One is more likely to have a nosebleed when one has a cold when the membranes inside the nose dry out, .
To avoid them -
• Drink extra fluids to help keep all your tissues, including the mucous membranes, well hydrated.
• Blow your nose gently. Aggressive blowing can lead to nosebleeds.
• Try to keep your mouth open when you sneeze.
• Avoid dry air, especially in wintertime or in dry climates, by running a humidifier inside your house and not overheating your bedroom.
• Use a lubricant to prevent nasal dryness. (Petroleum jelly. or a special water-based nasal lubricant which is available over the counter at pharmacies. Saline nasal sprays or drops can help, too.)
• Don't overuse medicated nasal sprays or decongestants. They can dry out and further irritate your nose.

yes i did its not abnormal a womans blood volume increases by upto 40% during pregnancy and nose bleeds can occur it's not a big issue or at least it wasnt for me. Talk to your dr let he/she know whats going on and that it concerns you Drink lots of h2o while resting keep your feet up remember left side is best for resting because it takes pressure off of you. relax and enjoy your pregnancy. It is perfectly normal. Your body is changing and your nose is taking on some of the stress. If the nose bleeds don't stop, see your Doctor.
