A good sleep schedule is when baby sleeps whenever she/he is tired. Anything else is *not* good. Trying to impose a sleep schedule on a baby teaches her/him not to trust her/his own body.

My 5 month old son has 3 naps during the day. Each of these can usually be anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes (he's not really consistent with his naps). We start our bedtime routine around 7 (which consists of a bath and a story) and he'll go asleep anywhere from 7:30 to 8:00.
During the night he usually sleeps pretty well, but he may usually wake up 1-2 times. We usually just give him the pacifier back or change his diaper. We stopped the nighttime feedings once he was 4 months old. Then he wakes up around 7 and we start it all over again.
But I've learned from my friends that not all of their babies where on the same sleep schedule as our son. So it definitely depends on what kind of schedule your baby wants to be on. I wouldn't try to make them to conform to a schedule, just see what works best for them and go with it. We tried making our son work with a certain schedule and he wasn't a happy camper.
Hope this helps!

my baby is 4 months old.he sleeps 4 to 8 hours every nite.this started at 2 months.he also sleeps longer when in his car seat,i think he feels more swaddled in there or something.ever since he was 4 weeks old he was on a schedule......every nite wo fail at 8 pm the lites go off and my other 2 kids have to be absolutely quiet.i change his diaper, feed him and put him down.now it's a habit.between 7:30 and 9pm he's asleep.he hardly ever wakes up 4 a bottle,if he does its only a 15 minute process and hes back asleep.no problems.dont get me wrong the first month and a half were pure hell....i was feeding 10 to 12 times a day,i did nothing else.lol.

My daughter is 9 months old now, but at 5 mo. is when I finally got her on a good sleeping schedule. She slept 11-12 hours at night and took 3 one hour naps during the day. She usually went to bed between 7pm and 8pm and would wake up between 7am and 8am. But every baby is different! Some of the keys to a well rested baby are routine and making sure they don't get overly tired. Whatever you do, do what works best for you and your baby!

It depends on the baby as they're all different. With my first baby, he was sleeping through the night completely (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) at three months old. With my second one, he JUST started sleeping through the night last month (10 months old). Each baby is different, so there's really no way to give you a good schedule.
That's for sleeping at night. During the day, both my boys were the same: Usually up between 6 and 7 a.m. Mid morning nap for about two hours, up for a few hours, then mid afternoon nap for a few hours until they went to bed at night.
At this early age, you should let your baby pick and choose when he sleeps. If he falls asleep at 10 a.m. and he's still sleeping at 11 a.m., don't wake him up thinking that if he doesn't get enough sleep during the day, he'll sleep better at night. This is totally not true. He'll just be totally cranky until he gets to fall asleep again. :)

My baby is also 5 months. We give him his bath at 7, feed him around 7:30 then put him to bed close to 8PM. He sleeps till 8AM, which I love because I can get up a little earlier and take my shower, have my coffee and everything before he gets up. He usually takes two naps for about an hour at about 10:15 and 2:30. I know the first ine seems early, but that's the pattern he decided he likes.

Two naps during the day and twelve hours at night. For the naps, they will be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Although 3 hours is very rare. The norm seems to be 1.5 hours.

When i took care of my nephew at five months he slept like twice a day for 3 to 4 hours and woke up probably twice at night for food and maybe a diaper change. If he wont' sleep after being fed and changed ten he probably needs to burp since it hurts them.

When my daughter was 5 months I put her to sleep by 10p and she would sleep until 11a. Between 1p and 10p she would take 2 naps, both of which lasted 3hrs. at the least.
