Yeah a separate site would be cool for the kids just looking to ask for someone to chat with. Some of the questions I have seen are absolutely unreal! But at the same time a lot of answers are useless as well, like "2 points!" I believe you view this forum the same as I do, a place for exchanging information and ideas. The American culture today is all about video / computer games. So even a useful forum like this gets turned into nothing more than a game site to many. I have a few friends that follow along with me to see what I have been up to here which I guess is kind of a game for them as well.
I don't think they could ever have enough staff at Yahoo, (been there, their building isn't big enough) to screen everything. I really hate it when I see nothing but insults when someone asks a question. Case in point ,the question that I think spawned this one where the schmuck didn't really answer the question, he criticized spelling, then went on to ask questions about blocking people that cannot spell. I guess we all have our pet peeves and we just have to live with what we have here or not use it at all.
Maybe Yahoo could come up with sites just for kids and those that just want to trade insults and maybe even one called Yahoo Points, for those that just want to play..

Well, it's asking a lot of yahoo answers. They only have so much staff. And it's a free site. Would you be willing to pay for such scrutiny? Because they would need more staff and guidelines. It's going to be a judgment call. Who would make those judgments? You could get a job with yahoo answers. they are looking for more staff. And who decides what is "pointless"? I think everything about american idol for example is pointless and many others that the askers probably don't think are pointless.

No I do not appreciate seeing rude, insulting and pointless questions, nor do I feel children should be allowed to view them, but to allow any kind of freedom of thought and speech in this world you must endure such stupidity and coarseness. Parents should watch their children more carefully and monitor what they are doing on the internet and yes, perhaps Yahoo Answers bods in charge should consider the value of different sections to fulfill different people's needs, buts let's not get too ridiculous here!

Don't like them b/c am not a masochist. Usually skip them or if they are really God-awful, report them.
I would love for the Yahoo Answers Team to have a review of questions before posting and have suggested this many times in the Forum, but have been many times told it is totally impractical as there are millions of questions posted here.
So what is to be done?

I don't particularly enjoy either. The blatant ignorance and pettiness of some of these people is a waste of space and time. I hate having to filter through all the idiocy to find a question worth reading, much less answering.

No and I think that is a terrible idea. This is supposed to be a place for meeting new people and gathering useful information. Don't ask a question if you don't want an honest answer. Also, I take great pleasure in pointing out their blatant stupidity.

Hey relax. I feel the same way about most of what you just said, but don't let it bother you.
Questions that are insulting should definitely be removed because that's just rude and unnecessary.
No I don't answer questions like that, but if they are insulting me (in ways such as negative stereotypes concerning my nationality), then I have to correct them, although it winds me up to read that sort of thing.

No i don't like reading Q's and A's that are rude, insulting and pointless. If i see them i either ignore them or report it depending on how bad it is. I only report sickos because they have no respect for anybody and they are just seeking attention. Just do what i do and simply ignore Q's and A's that annoy you.

I appreciate funny, well crafted Q with funny answers as well as the people who have legitimate Q.
I dont like the ones that are extremely rude, racist or the ones touting their bodily functions or fluids. It would be great if there were "eternally stupid" and "beyond bizarre" categories offered for those and if they are miscategorized, they are deleted or filtered over there.

I can always use the 2 points that these folk provide. I try not to get too offended by any question. These are anonymous questions sometimes posed by folks who have nothing better to do with their time than try to make others mad. They get a rise out of answers that call them names.
