Does you system starts when you select either of the options?
lets assume that the second windows option doesnt work:
then right click on my computer, go to properties, go to advanced, then click on startup and recovory settings, then click on edit starup file manually , then delete the line which has windows xp... the second time.. this should work...
if by mistake both the options work, then you can take the system to the shop...

Yeah - basically its like what the neopolitik dude just said. Its possible that you have 2 entries for the OS in the MBR. YOu could have done a reinstall of windows without the Repair option.
Eitherways - there's 2 ways to fix this.
The first - and the safer way is to use the Win XP recovery console and run the "fixmbr " command. This should work without any snafu's. You can also use a 3rd party MBR eediting piece of software.
The second way is like he said above,.

If you have installed winxp 2 times on separate logical drives then don't touch anything( copy of xp ) on primary partition( typically c drive) because it contains system files, so go to other winxp by selecting it while booting ( it must show "Microsoft windows xp professional" two times as you say) and after logging in go to add/ remove programs and uninstall all the programs that you have installed and make sure you have deleted corresponding folders these software's may create. Then boot by windows xp oem cd and go to repair console and remove appropriate winxp directory(windows).
You have completed your task, now search for boot.ini file which will be on primary partition( typically c:) using editor open it and delete the second option "microsoft windows xp professional" only. Please don't touch anything other than that.
Now you have uninstalled windows xp.
If you have installed windows xp on the same drive everything is same but identify the appropriate windows xp folder because there cannot be two windows folders on the same drive, so you may have specified some other name while installing.

Go to "Control Panel"
Find "Add or Remove programs"
At the left side of this option you will find " Add or remove Windows Components, select it, go and find there the duplication and remove it yourself.
That is it...
