i think people when they get to 65 should have to take the driving test again

There is no specific age at which a person should be prevented from driving. I give driving exams for a living, and I can tell you that there are people in their late 80's who are much more competent than drivers I've tested who are in their 30's.

Having said that though, there does come a time when many aged people lose their reflexes and reactive abilities. The answer is not to deny all 80 year-olds or people of any arbitrary age from driving. The real answer is to reduce the number of years for which a person over the age of 70 or 75 can renew his/her license to one or two years. By requiring people over that age to come into a driver license office for a competency evaluation whenever they renew, we could get more of those who have truly lost their ability off the road.

In my state, Florida, a 95 year-old driver who displays no obvious mental or physical infirmities can renew his license for 6 years. This means we wouldn't get a look at him again until he was 101 years old. A lot can happen to a person's capabilities in that time span. This needs to be changed.

I think you should be cut off at 65, but since that would be considered ageist, I think you should have to take a driving test, hearing and eye test every year after you turn 65 to keep your license. This can't be considered ageist as it is a proven fact that people's motor skills, eyesight and memory diminishes at this age. It reminds me of the story I read in the paper a while back about an old lady who ran over a jogger and dragged her body all the way back to her house. She didn't even realize what she had done until she went out to her car the next day! Accidents like this can be prevented by the afore-mentioned tests.

It depends on the person driving. Some elderly people make fine drivers, as they are fit and mentally aware enough to drive.
If a person has an illness that makes driving difficult they may be required to under go a series of tests that will determine whether or not they are safe drivers. This has very little to do with age, it's mostly about ability.

No particular age. I agree with having regular tests after 70, though. Not the full test, just top-ups dealing with sight, reaction time and so on. The problem is designing such tests - I haven't been happy about the suggestions I've seen so far. Since I have 5 years to go before I am 70, it's quite an important topic for me.

It shouldn't depent on age at all. Some people are better drivers
at 80 than say a 20 , or a 40 year old. It depends on the person.

I think more importantly what age should people be allowed to drive? 16 is way too young and I think you should not get a full license until you are 20.

i wouldn't say at what age someone shouldn't be allowed to drive.
I'd just say they aren't able to drive anymore due to vision and health.
I know some teenagers as well as others of all types of ages that shouldn't be able to drive because they are reckless and very dangerous behind the wheel.

depends on the persons capability to drive. they must have a medical check-up stating if they can still continue driving even in old age. but for me around 60 years of age.

I think that people should have to take the driving test every 10 years. Mainly the eye exam part.
