I saw a mouse run through the living room of my apt. the other day. They had the exterminator come out but I dont think he did anything. I bought mouse traps. But whats the best thing to use as bait? I heard peanut butter. But Im afraid leaving the traps out will attract more things, like ants! Whats the best way to get the mouse out?

I have lived in the same house for more than 10 years. Until this spring, I had never seen a mouse in the house! Then our cat brought me one. Then another... Then I started seeing them running around.

Talked to several pest control places. They said the best thing to use is poison. However, I have small children and I already mentioned the cat. They said the next best thing was the larger glue traps. I placed snap traps and glue traps throughout the house baited with peanut butter. In the end, the cat caught 7, the glue traps caught 5, and I caught 1. The snap traps? ZERO! I haven't seen signs of mice now for 3 months.

If you don't want to use the posion, stick with the glue boards. (hehe STICK with the glue.. nevermind) Use the peanut butter for bait and don't worry about the other pests because the glue boards will get them too!

Good luck.

Peanut butter is the best bait. Don't worry about attracting ants; if you place the traps right you'll catch the mice quickly and you can get the traps out of there.

Make sure you get the peanut butter deep into the little notch in the bait tray. When the mouse digs into the notch to get the last of the bait, that's when he puts enough pressure on it to spring the trap.

Tom & Jerry they say cheese. But I have used skin fruits on a trap to get a rat in the garden, and it worked. I also successfully used dried grain (wheat, corn,.. ) which I piled up in the middle of a trap of sticky stuff onto which the mouse walks to eat.

Look for the droppings to figure where to set the traps, and if it is say behind the stove, then lay the traps to the right and left of every exit (floor and counter) to ensure it is caught no matter what route it attempts to escape from.

Don't worry about the ants till you get the rodent out!

Get a couple of those super sticky traps. Usually you don't have to put anything on it to bait the mouse but feel free to use anything. (Mice nibble on everthing they can get into). Put the trap in a place where he will have no choice but to run over it. For instance, put it behind the frig or behind the couch but not somewhere obvious where he'll be able to dodge it. I had a mouse and I put the trap on the side of my frig in between the frig and the wall. I saw him dart behind the frig and then I tried to scare him out to run towards the trap. It worked!

My boyfriend lives in Brooklyn, Ny. He has really big issue with rats, mice and all. They tried everything, traps, exterminators but of course the rats and mouse always came back. They decided to get a cat. Since they got the cat, all mouse went away. Now, do not try to get the pretties cat ever, not all cat like to hunt around for rats and mice. Ask you local pet shop for the best cats for hunting.

There are many traps to remove mouse from the house but to be safe u can use such a trap that once the mouse eats it runs out off the house and dies there and as even the ants and other such insects don't eat it and so u must use it.

if you buy bait from home depot, there are generally two, tomcat and i can't remember the name but in a black box, tomcat is an anticoagulant so the mouse bleeds to death, internally, don't get that one, the one in the black box is a neurotoxin basically just shuts down the nervous system, better chose, or use a trap, and peanut butter does work.

The best thing is to set traps and try putting a little bit of bread on the end of the trap.
