I am looking for opinions on what the best car on the road today would be for someone of lower income that would require the least expensive or least amount of maintenance.

Honda Civic comes to mind as a very reliable vehicle. It just depends on your budget and what type of vehicle you need. PM me, I can give you some ideas.

There's no real answer here. Some cars do turn out to be lemons but you never know which one will be. Some will tell you imports are best and other will say domestics but studies have shown that both are pretty much equal. The bottom line is a car is only as good as YOU take care of it.
