Find out your jurisdiction's policy on expungement or other methods to clean or seal criminal matters. In CA, you can petition to get convictions expunged as long as you are no longer on probation/parole or it has been one year since conviction date w/o being sentenced to probation/parole. You must also have no cases pending (obviously).

You say she made a mistake. Grabbing conditioner instead of shampoo is a mistake. Violating the law is a choice that says her desires are more important than anyone else's.
Forgiveness is divine (rooted in religiosity). Do you want a religious judicial system? Try the Taliban.
Forgiveness is an individual response to another person's expression of regret and asking for forgiveness.

Actually our judicial system is one of the most forgiving judicial systems in the world. The best thing to do is to befriend some really good people, get involved in community service and donate time to local charities. Have the really good people write reference letters and use the charity work on her resume... with these things and time her "mistake" will be forgiven.

Sorry, girlfriend, a criminal record is a criminal record and it's gonna be hard for her to get work or travel or do a lot of other things. But depending on where she lives, the nature of her conviction and how long ago it was, she may be able to apply for a pardon. You should look into it.

"lin88b" has said it right. If only she could say she's an illegal, she will get it all. They are the only people, besides sex predators that can get off easy.
