Are you overweight? When did you plan to become pregnant?

As long as you are eating *healthy* foods, dieting won't hurt you before you get pregnant. If you think you might already *be* pregnant, then it's a different story! You shouldn't try to lose weight while pregnant. Just eat well and stay away from "junk" (candy, cookies, cake, white flour, fried foods, etc.). If you *happen* to lose weight while eating well, your baby will probably be fine, but never *try* to during pregnancy.

It depends on what you mean by dieting. It's more important than ever when you are pregnant that you are getting enough nutrients - if you stay healthy you will be more able to manage your pregnancy and the birth of your child. If you are planning to go on a specific diet, you'd be better off checking first with your doctor to find out what you should and shouldn't be eating. Save the dieting for after and exercise instead.

Of course it will. Your body needs more than it did before, in minerals and vitamins. While CHANGING your diet to more healthy foods will most likely be beneficial, anything that most call a diet will. There's nothing wrong with cutting sugar, decreasing fat, watching fat calories and carbs (but no low-carb diets), increasing water, and exercising (you can do MOST things you did before as long as you don't strain yourself, although running a marathon, I wouldn't do, walking will actually help you during labor, as well as other exercises) because they are helping you get calories without all the bad stuff. As mom and baby grow, eating six small meals to two or three large ones is preferable as your stomach won't have much room. This will also aid you in keeping your metabolism up, as long as you keep things in perspective. Cutting calories isn't good when pregnant, as you will need a slight increase while pregnant, but again, this does not mean eat more, just eat healthier. Chances are, you will lose some weight if you are a bit over, so keep in mind to eat healthier and in small portions.

Don't diet. Just eat healthy. When people hear "dieting" it's a bad, scary thing. I don't like to diet. It scares me. Right away your mind is like Ooooooooooooooh noooooooooooooo!!!! I recommend you just eat healthier, and make sure you nourish your body and your child. You can diet after you have the baby. And then again, still you need to nourish yourself properly. Good luck and take care.

It again is a good possibility. You need to consume more calories as you are now eating to also feed your baby. You need to eat nutritiously to help support the baby and have them grow to be able to make it the full nine months. Consult your physician there may be some ways of "dieting" where you just watch more carefully what you eat but with out their help I wouldn't risk it! Best of Luck
