i know most instructions say you should start then but is there a good scientific reason or just a good starting timeline.

Absolutely not- That is just the day to make it standard for women. You can start any day you like as long as you take your pill the same time everyday. Remember you may have break through bleeding if you interrupt your cycle at an odd time, but it isn't harmful to your body. The breakthrough bleeding may only be some spotting for the first month or so....... A lot of brands of pills actually come with stickers to change your start day....Just don't forget!!!! and remember 2 important things....don't use generic and if you take your pill at a different time each day it decreases its effectiveness!!!!!! I think it's just so you won't have your period on the weekend or something. There is another start method listed in the pill instructions, counting so many days after your period, I can't remember.

Yes thats so it will come the day you want to which is Sunday. Unless the calendar days change then it will change also. It did for me.
