i was told that all they can say is your hire date and end date, is that true?????

Can you be more specific? Is this for a temp job? No matter the work, they can say start date, end date, hourly wage, welcome aboard, whatever....what kind of place are you being hired into...unless it's the CIA, or some sort of security job....why wouldn't they give you info? Doesn't make sense without more details.

That is the typical HR policy. If the new employer speaks to the HR department, you should be okay.

Salary, start/ end date & position you've held is pretty normal for HR to release.
