SUBJECT-VERB: Example: Mary fed the birds at the pond. Mary is the subject; fed is the verb.

SUBJECT-VERB-PREDICATE NOMINATIVE: Example:
Barry is the player who won the baseball game. Barry is the subject; player is the predicate nominative renaming the subject Barry.

SUBJECT-VERB-DIRECT OBJECT: Example:
Paul kicked the ball beyond the field and out of bounds. Paul is the subject; ball is the direct object of the verb kicked.

SUBJECT- VERB-INDIRECT OBJECT-DIRECT OBJECT: Example: Gary gave the door a hard shove to open it. Gary is the subject, shove is the direct object, and door is the indirect object of the verb gave.

SUBJECT-VERB-PREDICATE ADJECTIVE: Example:
Sally was ill before the game began. Sally is the subject; ill is the predicate adjective modifying the subject Sally.
