Just enjoy the cuteness and the fact that if the kid gets messy or fussy you can hand him or her right back to mama!

I remember when I first became an aunt...pretty neat!
First, don't be a pest. Always call and ask if it is ok if you visit to see the baby. New moms are worn out and when the baby is asleep, they want them to sleep, not be disturbed.
Second, set up a savings account for the baby. A small amount is fine if you are not rolling in cash. It's a nice gesture considering how expensive college is these days. You and other relatives can add to it for birthdays, Christmas, etc., to help the parents.
Third, buy a t-shirt with the babies name on it, an adult sized one. Every year on the babies birthday, take a picture of the baby in the shirt. You can see him/her grow into the shirt. I saw this years ago, a photographer did it and it was so neat to see the pictures of the child growing into the shirt!
Forth-just be there for the parents for babysitting, they need a break once in a while too, just to be a couple again. They will really appreciate it.
Fifth-love that baby, tell them when old enough, stories about the family that they will cherish when they are older. I had relatives that did that for me, and I know so much about my family that I never met.
My aunts and uncles were loving, caring people that gave me books which I loved and still have some of them from my childhood. Nice memories.
Have fun auntie! : )

Ask the mum if you can do anything for her. Don't overpower though by going round too much. It's her first child and she'll want to do things herself. Maybe offer to babysit when the child is a few months older. I presume you're not a parent so don't be upset if she doesn't ask you to babysit. I'm guessing your not used to new born babies - if that's the case the mum will be apprehensive.
As for going round (again) the new mum will be very tired and may need naps in the day. You could offer to sit with the baby while she sleeps but on the other hand she might want/need a lot of time on her own. Just ask her what's best for her.

Be there if needed. Take time out for the new mother too. Offer to visit and make her lunch or watch the baby whilst she takes a nap as she may be feeling pretty tired at the moment.
All in all, be there. Ask her if there is anything you can do to help, and listen if she needs someone to talk to.
You'll be fine. You will slip into the role of new auntie very quickly.
Congrats to all involved.

The are sooooooooooo cute when they are little. But hoo boy when they get older.
Just be there so they know who the "family" is.
Offer to babysit once in awhile so they can bond with you a bit.
Other then that, just try not to become the crazy aunt that lives by herself with forty-two cats!

Buy her all the cutie pie clothes you can find and ask Mommy if she needs to get some rest while you tend to the baby. Give her a break even if it's only for a couple of hours. You can offer to make dinner and/or clean up a little for her. Most importantly, love that baby like she is your own. Enjoy!
