A power infatuated human who was a great scholar but lost his way somewhere along the line.
He was a worshipper of Lord Shiva not a god himself. He is called a demon because of his acts. After becoming a King he had started to use really dirty tricks to maintain his position.

Ravan is a demon. The difference between hinduism and christianity is that Demons can be really great and good while gods can also be totally evil and awful. It's a totally different concept.

Ravan is a demon
Rama is the God.
You need to make one god and the other demon for the story.
The character which made Ravan a great king , with enchanting charm to go down the history as demon is his idea of abducting sita wife of rama.

. Ravana became born to a brahmin sage vaisrava, and grandson of Pulastya (prajapathi) therefore comes lower than devagana gotra. Rama , a kshatriya had to finish aswamedha yaga, to pardon for killing a brahmin Ravana. Plus, Ravana and Kumbhakaran are none different the gate-keepers of vishnu. Ravan exiled his personal brother Kubera, who became an architect of Sri Lanka and the Prince of Sri Lanka. by ability of your common sense, If he's a dravidian, why is he evil adversarial to a distinct dravidian?? to that end, Dravidian delusion is pretend. Ravan dared to diminish off his head because he had the powers to get that back, an hassle-free common sense. do not you realize beheading is demonic, how can that be austerity?

Well Ravan was a demon . He was a devotee of LORD SHIVA and was so powerful that even the 9 planets called Navagrahas were over powered by him and rendered in active. The story goes that he was in the kingdom of the Lord but was cursed to take birth in the world and get killed in the hands of the Lord to attain salvation.
His action in carrying away SITA , wife of Sri RAMA, which resulted finally in his getting killed in the hands of Sri Rama, who was an AVATAR of Lord Vishnu but had to remain as a human being sans his supernatural powers.

If we're referring to Ravana, the antagonist of the Ramayana...he was truly neither - or both. Ravana's great-grandfather was Brahma, a deity. His grandmother was a demon. Ravana's father was a sage and his mother was a rakshasa - a type of demion So, he had both bloodlines, but was fully neither.
